Before the pandemic I was a real estate agent. When everything shut down and I was home with my six kids, I had time to think about what I actually wanted to do, and it turned out to be this. In 2020 I enrolled at the Salon Professional Academy and learned lash extensions properly.
I started out renting a single chair at a local salon in the winter of 2021. That is where I met the sisters who owned it. When they announced in June of 2022 that they were retiring, my husband and I bought the business from them.
The original location had already sold, so we went looking and found the lakeview building on South Lake Street. The old colonial bones of it were exactly what I had pictured. We moved in over Labor Day weekend and opened.
I still do every set myself. That means the calendar fills up a few weeks out — but the person who mapped your lashes in January is the same person filling them in March, and nobody has to re-learn your eyes.
Many of the clients who came with me from the old salon are still in the chair. That is the part I am proudest of.
